ASEAN countries have recognised the strategic role of the tourism sector in their economic growth as well as in enhancing the rich and diverse heritage of the region. As such, the ASEAN National Tourism Organisations have formulated a Plan of Action for ASEAN Co-operation in Tourism. This plan covers various areas including the facilitation of investment within the region.
As part of this plan, the idea of an ASEAN Tourism Investment Guide was mooted with the objective of encouraging tourism investments in ASEAN. The guide consists of information on ASEAN member countries (viz. Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) as well as Cambodia.
