AEEMTRC's transition work programme for July 1998 to December 1998, prior to its transformation to an ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) starting January 1999, was endorsed by the Project Steering Committee (PSC) of AEEMTRC during its meeting held in Manila, Philippines on 30 June - 1 July 1998. After several consultations have been made between the European Union and ASEAN, AEEMTRC will focus its interim activities on four core programmes, namely: Electricity Interconnections, Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipelines, Clean Coal, and New and Renewable Sources of Energy (Mini-hydro). Current programmes of AEEMTRC will also be maintained but more focused to support the 4 core programmes.
